This collection captures, in full force, Mauricio Alpizar’s sophisticated vision of world cultures, their history- art, and the people they represent. Iconic imagery, folklore symbols, mental spaces, and the visual depth they dance with each composition, expose the vibrant scenes that create fascinating intricate expression of those regions.
These designs are the essence of each culture it represents, breathing life into the drama of their configuration. Encouraging Sustainable Fashion
Printed by using eco-friendly ink that has been standardized in 100 Oeko-tex and utilizing 100% luxury woodline fabric made through sustainable sourcing and efficient manufacturing, this collection not only enhance the vibrant colours and the richness of its textures but guarantees that every inch of its creation has an ecological value.
Each garment has been carefully constructed to respect print composition, while never compromising the fluidity and sophistication of its design. Mauricio Alpizar strives to make wearing his designs as an experience where you are part of the aesthetic history they embody.
Mauricio Alpizar x SMESTA Fabrics
Mauricio Alpizar new collection collaborated with SMESTA Fabrics as his support for sustainable fashion industry. Using natural fiber of acacia woodchip as his main composition of material, this new collection shows that artistic fashion could be combined really well with natural fiber.
SMESTA Fabrics is providing high technology and accuracy of digital printing on natural fabric. The material itself is taken from industrial forest that sustainably harvested in Indonesia. The acacia woodchip, it is going through several processed to be yarn and weaved into this natural fabric. After the fabric is ready, we give coating to boost the colour and print the design directly to the fabric. Using eco-friendly ink that has been certified by OKOETEX Standard 100, Mauricio Alpizar vibrant design express the character boldly.
The process does not stop on printing, the fabric is going through fixation process and finishing process to maintain its quality. Every process is using eco-friendly chemical that also has been certified by OKOETEX Standard 100. We consitently maintain our water waste through 12 processes, so it will safe to be released to the environment. Hand in hand, we work together to present you the sustainable collection of Mauricio Alpizar in this new season.
Mauricio Alpizar was born and raised in Costa Rica and was deeply influenced by his family’s successful tailoring business. In 1995 he moved to Australia, the place he called home for over 25 years. Since then, his creative energy began to shift towards an enigmatic fusion of art and culture. Leading him to inspirations such as working with the Aboriginal communities and with collaborations from artists from around the world whilst travelling in Asia Pacific. The 2020-21 collection “Beautiful World” takes inspiration from his diverse cultural experiences and connections around the world.
When first entering the fashion world in 2010-2011, Mauricio worked on ‘Gossip Couture’. This line was a resounding success in Sydney and the international fashion community began to take notice. As Mauricio grew and developed as a designer, he decided in 2011 to open his self-titled label looking to achieve a unique Travel Resort Wear brand influenced by a rare and cutting-edge style.
After seeing first-hand, the impact of mass produced, fast fashion. Mauricio Alpizar is now committing the brand to ethical labour standards and using ecologically sourced sustainable fabrics and dyes.
Mauricio believes that every personality deserves a stage, and he seeks to design only those products that serve to enhance individual self-expression.
